Through Youth Tennis Advantage, Lives are Changed...

Summer Tennis Extravaganza At 2008 NJTL Regional Rally
Imagine each and every Youth Tennis Advantage (YTA) youngster gathered together for a full day tennis extravaganza comprised of tennis clinics, raucous games and typical childhood camaraderie on a warm and breezy San Francisco summer afternoon. Now imagine this many kids multiplied by 5. What you’d have is close to 600 youngsters playing tennis all together at the Golden Gate Park Tennis Complex for the largest youth tennis event anywhere in the nation. The event of course being the 2008 United States Tennis Association’s National Junior Tennis League (USTA NJTL) Regional Rally.
An annual event that has been hosted by the USTA’s Northern California section for over five years, the 2008 USTA’s NJTL Regional Rally relies on collaboration by YTA, the San Francisco Junior Tennis League, and the San Francisco Recreation Department, not to mention numerous participating NJTL chapters to create a memorable event for the hundreds of children who attend it. This year’s rally was no exception.
“For the first time in USTA NorCal NJTL history, we were privileged to have special guest speakers, Peanut and Tim Harper in attendance” said David Hong, USTA NorCal NJTL Event Coordinator. “They shared with us the “Pyramid of Success” which was truly inspiring for the children. “
Another first Hong described was major support offered by Kaiser Permanente an organization that resonates with helping communities live well and healthy and resonates with the YTA’s ‘Scholar Athlete’ concept.
“This year’s rally was just awesome,” said Loretta Conway, Executive Director at YTA. “Anyone who happened to have stopped by during the rally last week would see the tennis complex transformed into a large gathering of giddy children ranging in all ages and representing every ethnic diversity and coached by the best YTA tennis coaching staff imaginable.”

Great Kids and Awesome Support At Bank of the West Tennis Classic!
An overcast and brisk Wednesday morning gave way to beautifully clear Palo Alto skies and a warm afternoon temperature in time to welcome the Bank of the West's Tennis Classic 'For the Kids' Dinner which brought together Youth Tennis Advantage (YTA) board members, staff, and guests to celebrate, welcome, and raise funds for YTA's programs and accomplishments. In all, close to $300,000 was raised to help fund existing programs and to expand others. 'For the Kids' dinner featured program introductions by YTA's President Dr. Ron Grant and Executive Director Loretta Conway; as well as, introductions and interviews by broadcast personalities Ray Taliaferro and Barry McKay. Two special honorees were lauded: Tom Steyer, for his commitment to community voluntarism and support of youth tennis programs, and Thai Tu, a YTA junior whose excellence in junior tennis competition, and stellar grades has won him a four-year tennis scholarship to UC Berkeley where Thai will become member of the UCB Men's tennis team.

Great Ticket Opportunity For Esurance Fans
Youth Tennis Advantage and the Esurance Tennis Classic's enduring collaboration to promote one of the Bay Area’s most exciting professional tennis events, while also generating funds for YTA programs, is raising the bar this year where organizational partnership is concerned. Specifically, Esurance is helping YTA by allowing the organization to sell tickets to Esurance Tennis Classic 2008, and keep 100 percent of the proceeds. Ticket purchasers who buy from YTA will be able to purchase them for $25 each, a full $10 below retail. The arrangement means more YTA funded programs are possible with the proceeds generated from each sale. The Esurance Classic takes place this year on October 10-12, at the Harbor Point Tennis Club in Mill Valley. To purchase now click the link below.
